Thumbs Up BP Job Openings for Thermography Techs Level 1 and Level 2
SUMMARY
BP is looking for talented, innovative and driven individuals to join our team. We support our people to learn and grow in a diverse and challenging environment. We believe that our team is strengthened by diversity. BP is committed to fostering an inclusive environment in which everyone is respected and treated fairly.

There are many aspects of our employees’ lives that are important, so we offer benefits to enable work to fit with your life. These benefits can include flexible working options, a generous paid parental leave policy and others.

Thermography Technicians use infrared tools to monitor fixed equipment at the BP Cherry Point Refinery. These tools include both long and short wavelength infrared cameras, spectrum analyzers, pyrometers, blackbodies, and contact measurement instruments. The goal is to asses fixed equipment health by establishing thermal baselines and comparing them on a quarterly basis to identify thermal anomalies and the rate of change of these anomalies. Typical equipment to be monitored, but not limited to, includes fired heaters, air coolers, heat exchangers, refractory lined piping, storage tanks, and electrical distribution substations.

KEY ACCOUNABILITIES
• Inspect scheduled process equipment on a unit by unit basis using appropriate thermal technics (thermal imaging, pyrometer, or direct
contact probe). – 33% is field work, balance is processing work and maintaining equipment, extra time at events
• Follow the thermography work schedule.
• Process field data from completed inspections.
• Perform Thermography Report generation from acquired imaging using system supplied templates.
• Perform drawing markups to indicate location of surfaces imaged and camera positions when required.
• Perform field baseline data collection. This could be dimensional measurements of equipment height or length; or/and, include thermal
and digital photographs to catalog equipment condition for reference purposes.
• Identify thermography instrument faults and failures in a timely manner, example: battery, storage media, or connection cable failures.
• Perform manual repairs when practical (replace cables, clean lens, etc.).
• Assist in RMA generation should infrared equipment need repair or annual calibration.
• Work scope may include monitoring process changes such as level or flow and communicating results to assist Process Engineers,
Reliability Engineers, or Inspectors in understanding these processes in a real time environment as they relate to thermal change.

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION:
• A High School Diploma or equivalent is required
• Level I NDT certification

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE AND JOG REQUIREMENTS:
• Experience working in NDT or Thermography
• Knowledge of how to determine the emissivity of a given object’s surface and the reflected temperature incident on that object.
• Working Knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Familiar with relevant refining industry practices, codes, and standards particularly those related to API inspection criteria
• Strong organization, teamwork, and communication skills
• Basic understanding of conduction, convention, and radiation and thermal analysis software

DESIREABLE CRITERIA AND QUALIFICATIONS:
• Experience working in a refining or manufacturing environment
• Additional NDT certificates

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
